Here we go all over again. Seems like the winds can be pretty fierce. They are saying that this time, the cold front will cause the storm to strengthen.
The good news is I dont have alot of $ into the boat. The bad news is I only have liability and "damage to others property" insurance on it.
I will probably not be able to pull Kukla out, as I have no history with any of the local haulers in the area and will likely be last on the list.
That said, worse case is a salvage job, there are quite a few Cat25s on the market in the area and being that I have had a great learning season and really convinced the Admiral that sailing is great....I SHALL RETURN....one way or another.
(Darn - my 2 weeks of vacation start this Saturday....not really a good start!)

Failure is not and option, regardless of vessel value. Do something about it! Lessons learned will prove valuable during your sailing career. The good news is you have 2 weeks of vacation such that you will be able to deal with your boat. Go ride it out in a hole somewhere. You'll have the time of your life! Trust me! I'd rather do it on my 39'C&C, but she's a solid one mate! If it goes above 45 knots - get a room...
Looks like it's going to be windy in the Narragansett Bay this weekend! I plan to show my sailing buddy how to use my hank-on 60% storm jib (instead of his 110 or 150) and how to reef his mains'l, for the first time. He and I have C25 sister ships - the Yankee Girl and the Dixie Gypsy. I suppose he's been too busy sailing and scuba diving, among other things, to post on the forum.
Itinerary - Friday evening - East Greenwich Bay to Potter's Cove off Prudence Island - Saturday early morning - Potter's Cove to Newport - Sunday afternoon - Newport to East Greenwich
Going south with a NNE breeze on Saturday and returning north with a SSW breeze on Sunday should be very fast. Hope there's not much rain Saturday. If there is I'll have to put plastic bags over my sneakers and use my fleece-lined plastic gloves.
Narragansett Bay Friday Night: ESE wind 8 to 11 kt becoming ENE 11 to 14 kt after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 21 kt. Showers likely, mainly after 2am. Seas around 1 ft.

Or is this your very first tropical storm?
Sten - I doubled the pennant lines, adjusted the chaffing gear, took off the sails, took off the aux, and secured all the loose lines. Then I drank a toast to her and went fishing. The options were to move to a better harbor or grind it out with 500 or so fellow boaters on moorings in the harbor.

Next year, I spring for the insurance!

So you are really only worried about somebody else bouncing off of you, or the ground tackle failing somehow. You did what you could do. That's all you can do. I never had insurance on my C25 and only recently sprung for it for my C&C 39. It makes insurance claims easier after you get hit in the anchorage! I think insurance on boats makes people get a little careless, and subsequently they will leave the sails up, move into the eye of a storm to get a better look, anchor poorly, or back out of the slip at 4 kts and hit someone. Sure, prudent folks do get hit, but usually their boat survive.

Ssshhh! C'mon Dave, there is gonna be one hell of a story to go along with that itinerary. Im surprised that the marine forecast says seas only at 3 feet. Somehow I expected more...

I'm sitting here looking at the current radar and it looks to me like this thing is getting blown apart by the wind shear. Maybe it won't even make it up there.
