When in a situation like that, he should have stepped off onto the rock with a blanket an a picnic basket, Spread out out the blanket, opened up the basket and acted as if this was exactly what he wanted to do!

I wondered a few things... what was the damage to all those boats - seems the keels all took a pretty powerful hit, didn't any know this would happen, why would they route the race at that time through that area???

This is what Wikipedia says about that particular race: "Tjörn Runt is an annual long distance sailing competition that takes place in Sweden around the island of Tjörn. The race has been held on the third Saturday of August every year since 1964. About 1,000 sailing boats sail the 28 nautical miles (52 km) around Tjörn each year."

1,000 sailboats!

Looks fun, but August in Sweden doesn't look fun! It's looks COLD.

In the video I saw, a J80 with a red assym was doing 19.6 kts boatspeed in the Solent. Dunno if that was the same video. Yeehaw indeed!

And, somehow, that all adds up to pleasure boating? Seems like more money than sense to me.
