While doing some stainining of the port cabin trim I got a couple of runs on the cabin bulkhead. I jumped on it with bleach and Turtle Wax rubbing compound which helped but did not get rid of it. Is there anything I can do to get the stains out? Thanks.
Try acetone. If your gelcoat is very oxidized the stain may have gone in a bit. If the acetone doesn't do the trick you may need to be more aggressive with the compound.
Toothpaste is a mild abrasive, but is aggressive enough to remove a significant amount of oxidation, but be aware that when compounding a small spot of oxidation that the adjacent oxidized surface will no longer match. I have had some luck with Mr. Clean Magic Eraser on fresh stains. It also helps if you wax before staining and re-wax areas where you have removed stains. These are old boats, and painting is the only way to be really pristine. Put some effort into it, but don't get crazy.
