I wanted to thank this forum for being what it is, an almost always pleasant, respectful, and educational experience.

Not so much for another forum I (used to) belong to.

<rant> I just had an unpleasant experience on another board that I was an "officer" of. I was nominated to the position without my knowledge and felt honored by the appointment. We went through another round of elections with an extremely flawed process that I won't detail. When I complained about how they were handled, all I got were snide remarks from the owner of the board. I exchanged several PMs with a senior officer on the board who agreed with my complaint. He took my complaint to the board owner, who's response was to kick me out, with no discussion, he didn't even bother to send me a PM, he PM'd my friend, and BCC'd me telling him he'd "taken care of the problem". The humorous part was he neglected to update his site properly so he really didn't kick me off. I've elected to simply stop participating on the site (plus I'm sure he'll rectify his mistake shortly).

I made some good friends on the site, so that's good. But nothing like the camaraderie in here that I so enjoy, so I just wanted to say thanks to all the folks in here. We may not always agree with each other, but we all stay (relatively) cordial in our curmudgeonly way.

David, the thanks goes to all the members who participate in this Association that make it what it is and that includes you. I am sorry to hear about your other forum but it is their loss. You have continued to be a great contributor, as so many have, to this forum and that has made this a great Association. As you say, we may not all agree but sure have fun along the way and it has been a joy and privileged getting to know you and members of this forum.
