Hey, now I'm no longer Commodore, I can work on bringing the Nationals to San Diego.
The Catalina 30 Nationals are going to be here September 24 - 26, 2010 and we've got an invite to join in.
I'll arrange parking for trailers and we'll somehow find guest slips or moorings for everyone.
The host club will be Silver Gate Yacht Club and the San Diego All Catalina Association (for which I am now race chair).
We'll have 5 races over the 3 days. One will be a Bay race and the others will be just offshore, mostly Windward/Leeward around local buoys.
The Catalina 30 fleet will have 3 classes: spin, non-spin, and cruising. Catalina 309s are invited.
I figure we'll have 3 classes: 250, 25 and Capri 25. We'll have all one start. I don't want to limit it to jib-and-main but if I am the only spin boat competing I can leave mine at the dock.
We'll have at least one dinner party at the club.
There is lots to do in San Diego.
Boats could stay another weekend and do the San Diego - Ensenada race. I will help anyone interested in doing that.
Entry fees and financials will come later in the formal bid to the officers.
At this point I'd like a show of hands as to who would come?
The Catalina 30s expect 20 boats. I'd like to see 10 of ours.
Jim, Count me in. Be nice to get commitments from the rest of Fleet 7 and the L.A/Orange County contingent as well. you will have a sizable last-place award right?

Contact me with details and I will take it to the officers. Thanks John Gisondi - Vice Commodore</font id="navy"></font id="size2"></font id="Comic Sans MS">
elliott i'll leaver now and get my boat rigged and launch into the mississippi.
i'm guessing i can be in new orleans by the first of the year
we can sail along the coast through texas and down to panamal canal. i passed thru last year. assuming we can get thru the canal for less than $10000.00 each we should be in san diego just in time for the nationals.
you know what< hold that thought, i may just book a flight on southwest and fly there in about 4 hours for $125 each way. of course then i would hwv to CREW FOR SOME LOCAL GUY.....
HMMMM!!!!!!!!!! WHERE SHOULD I LOOK FOR THAT GUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

waiting to see if i need to launch fairly shortly to make the nationals.
What do people think about a cruising class, or using the cruising class PHRF offsets for everyone? Our San Diego All Catalina Association gives PHRF offsets for roller furling, subtracts time for non-Dacron jib and main, has non-spinnaker offsets, etc.
I can provide the whole table of offsets.
This might help us get more non-racers to the event.

Also Steve Milby!<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote">Let's imagine... Jim "Buoys are for Sissies" Baumgart, Steve "Lawyer on the Racecourse" Milby, and Derek "Won every regatta" Crawford... on one boat with dark sails and 38 lines led to the cockpit... Anybody wanna race these guys? (At least they can't fit Derek's main on Jim's boat--unless he brings his mast.)
Wouldn't it be a great way for me to get my first glimpse of America's west coast? Heck, it's a year away, who knows. Of course I couldn't get Bamboo there but I'd be good in the cheering section!
Keep in mind you can come here, rent a C250, and race. We'll put you in the cruising class, give you a roller furling and 110% jib credit, plus the non spin offset.
How about going home a National Champion on a rented Seaforth Catalina 250?
