Having just received a wonderful snowfall just in time for the holidays I wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, Happy Holidays, or whatever is currently "politically correct". May the New year be joyous, prosperous and free from life's problems for all!

Our daughter and her husband (both school teachers) are leaving town this morning for Virginia and the snow to celebrate Christmas with his son so we had a bit of Christmas with them yesterday evening. Watching a 4yr old boy with his Wall-E toy and a 2yr old with her Dora doll and each clad in new PJ's was priceless.

While personally not a believer any more in any god, Christmas certainly offers something for everyone, those who celebrate their faith and those who celebrate a festive holiday.

Regardless of what we believe or don't believe, I hope we can appreciate the incredible good fortune that we and our families have enjoyed. How did we end up here rather than Sierra Leone, Bangladesh, or _________ (pick one--the list is long)? How did we manage to exist in the most peaceful period in all of human history for most of our adult lives? Did we "earn" these things? A huge majority of the people in this world were not so fortunate... and will never experience the peace, tranquility, and exhilaration of sailing a 25-foot Catalina sailboat!

Hopefully, at least a little of what we do will help bring peace, security, and opportunity to those who are not so lucky... here and around the world; now and in coming generations.

In our PC world where "Christmas" is frowned upon and "Happy Holidays" preferred...we refuse to say anything except...MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!
