Anyone here on facebook? Do you find it useful?

I'm on facebook. I find it about 10% useful, but it's OK just to keep tabs on friends and associates without actually having to converse with them. Sounds bad, but you can scan your wall and reply if it's important or ......... not.

LinkedIn is pretty good too - it seems to be geared more to professionals. It's been pretty amazing how many people I've reconnected w/.

I'm on facebook and I would be hard pressed to describe it as "useful." However, I do like the ability to keep up with what is going on in the lives of friends and neighbors.

I'm on Facebook too. Did it on sort of a whim. SO far I have not done much with it and, too be honest, I'm not completely sure how to use the features.

Sharing & Learning my family history and future on FB.
Also started using it for promoting my new Business which really needs the push.

Rita & I both use FB, I found it fascinating at first, that quickly devolved to annoyance, now I use it to keep up with friends and especially family. I've managed to connect with about half of my cousins, who I'd otherwise never hear from, plus a couple of aunts (none of my uncles), some of their cousins, etc. I also am able to keep up on about 90% of my nieces & nephews which again I'd otherwise only hear about during holidays if then. Of course a lot of it is adolescent drivel, and you have to learn how to turn off any of the incredibly annoyingly stupid polls that every new FB'er seems to think every one of their contacts just have to read. We also use it to promote our cottage industry, and we try to reciprocate with other folks that we know doing the same. Creating a buzz about something is frequently just getting to a tipping point in "fan" participation. I've also connected with old girlfriends, folks off of this forum, a couple of people I went to HS with. Overall I think it has it's uses, but if it went away, I'd miss some of the content, but probably not much.

I primarily limit my FB use to family and close friends that are spread around the country and abroad. I don't get involved in the applications and surveys, most of which I consider too "cutsie" or just plain dumb.

I gave it a try, but it just got clogged up with a bunch of people I see pretty frequently anyway.

I have FB, it's good for reconnecting with old friends. They have a derivative called boat book, but it doesn't seem to be very active.

I logged on as a whim, which a friend suggested. Some of it's interesting, most of it's drivel from lonely/bored people. As a buddy of mine told me when he saw I was on: "Now log on every 15m and tell everyone what you think about dogsh*t and socks". On the other hand, it has come in handy to get/stay in touch with some old friends with very little effort on my part (which I'm terrible about...).
