Recently a member has make the suggestion to add to the Ship's Store. To that end, do you feel the Store has any value? Would you be more likely to make a purchase from the Store if there were items you are interested in. If so, what items would you like to see in the Store?
Your suggestions appreciated in advance. Thanks.

Many of us primarily use the forums only. But did you know we have a Ships Store? which is located on the left side of our web page. Here you can purchase not only an Association burgee but also many type of clothing such as shirts, outer wear, caps and much more. All are available with our logos. Please help support your Association with a purchase. Christmas is around the corner.
And don't forget to check out many other links with many other great places to visit such as Tech Tips, Swap Meet, Amazon Store and much more.

(As we say in the new york metro area) Not fer nuttin' but . . . .

. . . . is the Association rattling the tin cup? I haven't read a treasury report in a while, but a year or so ago, the Association was running a surplus. And if memory serves, it was pretty substantial

As I said, I haven't read any recent reports, is the Ass'n running low on funds?

Bruce, Heavens NO! We have a nice surplus. We just wanted to let members know about the Ships Store as many newbies are not aware of it.
I think it helps to remind everyone from time to time of all this Association has to offer. Many just use the forums only. As you know, we have and offer much more. We are also looking into offering other items in the Ships Store for our members.
Finally you may have noticed the post re the clicking the ads for Google and Amazon on our site, which makes us money. Again the officers want to do something for our members in the way of contests. The officers did not want to touch the surplus and instead thought it best to use only the money we make from these ads.
If you or any member have ideas, we would love to hear more. This is YOUR Association.

I hadn't actually looked at any of those links until you pointed them out, and I do like some of the ideas I found there. I may get some shirts with the boat name on them some day.

If one of my kids wanted to buy me a burgee (it's on my list), how would they go about it since it is rightfully "member only".

So, if I browse Amazon for stuff other than what's advertised on our page, does the association still get a click through fee? In other words if I'm looking for a book on woodworking or whatever and and go through our page to get there, we get the revenue?

Dave, Regardless of who will pay, go to our Ships Store. Anyone can pay using PayPal. If they pay, put a note for your name. I will take care of it. Thank you. Any problems, please let me know personally.

David, you have to click on the link for Amazon that show up on our site. Once there I believe you can click away for other stuff and we still get credit but let me check on this and get back to you.

It may have changed - but when I had most of that set up Google gives the Assn. $$ for just simply clicking the add. Amazon and Ebay is a purcentage of purchase on a tiered structure along with some of the companies that used to be on the links page.

Duane, I do not believe that has changed. At least not in the couple of years I have been treasurer. Each month we do get a small amount of $$ from each company as you stated. Thanks for clearing that up.

I think he edited the original post and put some questions in the top, but it wasn't clear to me either.

I'd like to see some nice ceramic coffee mugs with either the Catalina logo or the C-25 logo.

The best I could find online (CatDir IIRC) were cheesy plastic ones; I'm looking for something I could give as a gift to remind someone of sailing (maybe help them through the long winter).

As there is not much interest, I cant see making any changes. Especially since the Association would have to put up the cost to purchase items. If they didn't sell, we could be stuck with them.
