I'm considering a move to the Rockies in the next few years, but would like to bring my 82 C25 SK with me. If I lived in Boulder, where could I keep my boat? Any other info would be great as well, like sailing season, etc. thanks!

Lake Granby looks like nice, picturesque sailing grounds and has some good sized marinas, but I've only driven past it. I'm not sure how you get there from Boulder except through the Rocky Mountain National Park, which is a harrowing drive to go sailing!

I live in Colorado Springs and Sail in Pueblo Reservoir. It is a little far from Boulder for just the weekend. It's about 21/2 to 31/2 hour drive south witch means you have to go thru Denver thats a terrible drive anytime. The Denver Lakes, Chatfield & Cherry Creek are small and VERY crowded. Horse Tooth Reservoir in Ft. Collins was drained for dam repair. I don't know the status of it as of now. Granby, Shadow Mountain are big lakes with nice wind as per people I've taked too, also heard the ice is not clear until about May 1. The best one for you would be Carter Reservoir. I believe it's with in an hours drive from Boulder. The season is mid April to mid October. There is a Catalina dealership in Lyons if I'm not mistaken it's about 30 min from Boulder and 20 min to Carter. One good thing about Pueblo,it is the only good size lake on the front range with marinas that you can sail in year round. We are in our slip 12 months a year. Late Sept thru Feb is the best sailing of the year. Most of the lakes in CO. are reservoirs, the water level can drop as much as 20 to 30 feet a season making the sailing area smaller. I don't know about the rest of the lakes but Pueblo is 51 feet lower than it was in April 2000. (It was close to maximum capacity then) The marinas and the 2 lanch ramps are still very usable. Of course we are in the middle of the worst drought in a 100 years. With normal precipitation Pueblo Reservoir's water level will come up 27 feet by next season. Where ever you go watch the weather summer storms come over the mountain pretty quick. Hope this helps.
Yes, thanks to you all. Bryan, Pueblo lake sounds a lot like the corps of engineer lake that I sail on. I, too, am in year round and sail even in the dead of winter (only two months a year) here in arkansas. An hour drive sounds better but I would seriously miss the ability to go down to the boat anytime of the year, if anything just to get away, you know, cabin on the water. thanks for the info, I've got plenty of time to figure this out and I need to take a trip up in the next year to scout jobs, housing and lakes (the most important part of moving as all of us sailors know!) Thanks again, I'll do a seach online for those names!
