Looks really effective, especially for coastal sailing, where the worst case scenario would involve an air rescue. A man-overboard-pole would probably be much more visible from the surface of the water, like in a rescue by boat. But as they show in the video, the orange plastic rescue streamer would make the swimmer much more visible from a helicopter or plane, that's for sure.
They even show us how to make some of them - orange plastic sheeting with flotation strips attached every 5 or 10 feet.
