Does the forum email system work? Steve (Piseas) mentioned to me in a regular email the other day that the Forum-linked email system might be broken.

<i>"May day, may day, may day...My boat is sinking and the email system is broken...Can anyone hear me? May day, may day, may day!"</i>

Well, it's not that critical, but it would be good to know.

Let's say it's less than optimal. I can get and send mail to some folks, and not others. Since you mention Steve, he's one of the ones who's sent me mail that never got through. I've sent mail to other folks that never seemed to get through, or they were ignoring me.

Bill, you likely clicked the "Check here to subscribe to this topic", which will send you an email anytime someone replies. To unsubscribe, just un check the box (at the bottom of the screen when you're replying). If you're certain you never did this (as in you've never read this particular thread so you couldn't have), that indicates a bigger problem. Please let us know either way.

Steve, I've received no mail from you (at least not recently, certainly not today). I see you made your reply about an hour & a half ago, I'll keep checking & let you know if anything shows up.

PS: I checked my junk mail just in case, back two days, still nothing.

I just sent myself a message and received it in about five seconds (on att.net). I'm suspicious that since the "From" in the e-mail (the individual) is not the actual <i>sender</i> (the forum server), some other spam filters are grabbing it. That's a classic trick used by spammers to masquerade and hide the true source. The only solution to that might be to have the e-mails sent "From" the association or forum, and let senders put their addresses in their messages if they want a direct reply.

Here's how my test came through (viewing the source)... Note that the "envelope-sender" is not the actual sender at any step in the chain--probably interpreted by some systems as a sign of spam. Some ISPs may have even blocked everything from our server or initial ISP for that reason.
