Has anyone installed a Whale foot pump for their galley or head sink? We'd like to be able to use both hands when washing, etc and a foot pump seems like a good option. I'm wondering about installation locations though. Anyone done this?<s></s><s></s>

We cannot direct the winds but we can adjust our sails.

Steve, I just noticed on your boat that you have your forward straps for your bimini go straight down to a clip. That solved a problem for me, as when I am at a dock on either the port or starboard side I always end up leaving that sides' strap off so it doesn't interfere with getting on & off the boat. So now if I add eyelets straight down as you did, I will be able to leave the bimini straps hooked wether I am in or out of a dock space. Thanks - Roger

Roger, keen eye, yes I am still able to exit with straps in place. At least at this point in time.

Hey Randy ..

i did this one ,

im not crazy about the faucet , it fit in the same hole .
the other holes were under the old faucet .
i was going to make a trim piece to cover it , but was thinking to replace it with a pull out style , that presure water style should work with a foot pump ..

and i love it its a great mod ..

Sean, that is exactly what I was hoping for. Thanks! What model foot pump did you use? Any photos of the pump install in the cabinet?

A nice teak or lexan base would look good and hide the holes.

I'd like to do this for the head also. Thinking I could mount the pump under the port settee with the pedal sticking into the head just starboard of the sink.

its the gusher or gulper..from WM
you have to notch out the floor bord to the cabinet ..
i just made a templet .

a pull out faucet would be real handy ..for the bath too ..

Thanks Sean, that is very helpful. It looks to be mounted the the cabinet face and not the floor, correct? What is that valve with the yellow handle?

yes randy , it mounts useing thru bolts (button head) with a finishing washer to the wall , you can see in the first picture..very strong mount 100%
i keeped it off the floor a bit ..so if anything did spills it would not run into the cabinet .
i could have done a better job cutting the inside floor and made it closer ..

the valve is just a diverter for the stern shower ..to draw from a hot bowl of water on the stove for a hot shower ..

thats never used ...it works but dont use it .

When I had my $+!nkp*+ built, I chose a system using a small electric pump that switches on and off based on the pressure in the system, and which can additionally be switched completely off. With the system on, when you turn on a faucet (or in my case, flush the head), the pump runs. When you shut the faucet (or stop flushing), the pressure rises and the pump shuts itself off. (This is when I'm at anchor with the big engine shut down...) For a C-25/250 with maybe two batteries, I'd say this is a viable option. My system also uses the fresh water tank to supply the head, which dramatically reduces odor over those that use salt water.

Now, there is nothing unusual about this pressure system--it's almost ubiquitous in larger boats... but if I still had the C-25, I'd like to have known about this option--it would have been a very nice upgrade. (Sorry, Bruce.

Defender has them for about $10. less than WM. It's an excellent manual pump. Just remember to pump a little RV antifreeze through it when you winterize,

Sean, my Gusher pump and a faucet just arrived. It is the same faucet you used, I think, a telescoping faucet from Whale. If this is the same unit you have what did you not care for about it?

Also, I figure the nuts are on the inside of the cabinet. Are the nuts in the hollow mounting "tubes" that are part of the pump? It would be great to have closeup photos of the outside bolts and nuts that affix the pump to the cabinet.
