I did the same job with sunbrella many years ago and looks like will need to do it again. The materiel has not deteriorated much but has shrunk over the years straining at the snaps which now are disposed to no longer stay snapped.
The material is a woven reinforced vinyl and is used in the trucking industry as a load cover... it's very strong, does not tear or shrink and resists mildew.
Our 7.5 ft Backwater dingy is covered with the same material held on tight with shock cord through grommets. It kept the inside of the dingy dry while riding between tabernacle and pulpit on top of Someday Lady during our one year 30.000 km (20.000 miles) around the continent trip. It remains in excellent condition.
During winter storage the boat is entirely covered with a 20 ft x 30 ft tarp draped over the center supported mast with vent openings at bow and stern.
