I'm new to this forum. I purchased a 1988 SR/WK in February (or should it be WK/SR?). I live in AZ and have it stored at Lake Pleasant. I have a number of questions - one at a time. Here's the first one - where is the hull number recorded? I know there's a plate at the back of the cockpit, but I can't read it. Is it part of the serial number of the boat that's on my registration?

I also read the naming post with interest - having the same challenge.

Thanks and looking forward to participating and learning from this group.

Greg

Besides curiosity, part of the form to join the association asks for the hull number!

Did you look at your mainsail number? Not the most reliable source, but if you can't read the 4 digits on the cockpit plate, that's the next place I'd look. There are also some differences in construction over the years that could help you narrow it down.

Yes, it is part of the serial number. The first 3 characters represent the manufacturer. The next 4 are the hull number and the last 3 represent the month/year that the hull was certified.

Welcome to the forum. Enjoy your new boat.

BTW, the only place that is absolutely correct is the number that is scratched/stamped in the gelcoat on/near the stern on the starboard side just below the rubrail.

John is correct. Mine is an 87 and is stamped on the stern directly under the rubrail on the starboard side.

Thanks to everyone for the advice. I'll try all those options and see where it gets me.
