I would like get your feedback on an idea for the Association to have a "Calendar of Events".
This might be a regular article in the Mainsheet magazine. It might also be a new section on this website.
The idea would be that association members could list local events. These events could be racing, cruising, or sailing club events. The intent is to promote sailing and connect people.

Russ, Would it be something that all members would post to using their passwords? Would there be a review to keep obviously non-conforming events at bay? Would the events expire once the date has passed, or could they remain up for a month or two for reference? Could you post recurring events like monthly meetings?
I believe it would be great for promoting events and meet ups.
Would it also be possible to somehow incorporate the Catalina regional "all fleet" activities so it is easy to see if a specific region/fleet maybe having a regatta, etc?

Good points, my first thought is it would work just like the Mainsheet magazine. A member would submit an item and an editor would review and post to the website and include it into the Mainsheet magazine.
I agree, to submit an item it should be in the "Members" area, but once posted, it should be in the "Public" area so everyone can view it.
As far a events expiring, this would be a manual process. So, it would be up to the editor to add/remove events.

Sure, this could include "All Catalina" events. For example: boat shows, or Catalina Rendezous This would be a manual process so, we might miss some.
