So, 2 weekends ago I busted a forward lower shroud. PO had jury rigged something up there that didn't hold. Knew someone with some cat 25 parts and got a replacement shroud from her. Went to put it on last weekend and it was TOO SHORT! lol Turns out I have the tall rig. Ordered a new one from catalina direct and the estimated delivery date is NEXT WEDNESDAY. Ugh. We'll still be hanging out on the boat, but won't be going anywhere unless we motor.

Suggestion: Put a D shackle on the chain plate and run several loops of 1/8" high tensile strength line for a temporary fix. Being a lower shroud, it will probably hold.
Don't feel bad. Lake Lanier gets so crowded over the summer holidays that I don't go to the boat even in the marina. It Rocks with the wakes of the Big boys, even uncomfortable to motor out.
But it is not like I don't have enough work to do on the house, and the other boats. And that bale of hay...
With kids on board, "probably" is a word I would try to avoid, although I Do agree that a lower shroud isn't as critical as some of the other rigging. I kindof agree with th eabove comment, order local (or at least price them) and see if CD will take back the one that is on its way.

We replaced the lower shrouds on our C250 last year, we kept the old ones (not broken, one had a fishhook on it, so we replaced both) as emergency spares.
DavidP - ...IMHO...the 'probably' is an 'absolutely' if you use the right substitute line and fittings that don't reduce line strength too much...done right, I'd go for it w/o concern.
