Several of you mentioned in another thread about how great the service and people are at Catalina Direct. The couple of times I've dealt with them I would have to agree wholeheartedly. They were great!
After my phone conversation today with the people at ATN, Inc (spinnaker sleeve, ATN Tacker, etc...) I would have to say they were at the extreme opposite end of the scale. What a bunch of arrogant and rude people. After about a 2 minute conversation I basically hung up on them after being spoken to like I was an idiot and had never sailed a boat.
I had a similar experience but with another vendor. Autogeek.com has a tech desk for product application and/or selection. I called for assistance with foam pad selection for glaze. They had never heard of Presta - one of the premier producers of automobile finishing products. It quickly went down hill from there - speaking faster than the human ear can listen and if you didn't get it all written down - I felt like I was being a nuisance. I gave up and Googled the information I was looking for and purchased my pads elsewhere.
Gary you are so right, I met the ATN guys at the boston boat show and he was just as you quoted arrogant and rude. I as well have this rig and yes it looks so easy, but my question was with the sleeve that opens the spin. and draws it in ... still no answer ... I have emailed and tried to call nothing ... love to know if you got it flying
