In researching the topic of ramp launching, I came across this thread from a Boston Whaler (powerboat) site. Although it deals primarily with powerboat ramp launching mishaps (one story does involve a 30 foot sailboat) I found it instructive as well as entertaining.
Forum members may find it helpful, especially if they are (like me) new to ramp launching.
I have a little boat ramp story. Besides my Catalina 250 I have an old Sea Doo water scooter. It's kept on a trailer with NO ROLLERS. The friction of carpet covered bunks made it hard to get the boat off the trailer so I sprayed the suckers with silicon lubricant. The next time I backed down a moderately steep ramp with the winch disconnected the scooter slipped off the trailer easily....before I got to the water. Broke the jet drive nozzle.
