For about 70 bucks you could rig a spinaker halyard externally. In a pinch, that line can double as a backup jib halyard and also as a spare line if you go up the mast. Additionally if you ever get a spinnaker, it can be used for that too.

Were you out of Dover? We probably have some mutual friends... Several guys I fly with at work did/do fly with the Reserves out of Dover. Small world, ain't it? I flew C130s in a previous life and now fly the Guppy for Southwest out of BWI. As mentioned earlier, thank you for taking the oath and serving our country.

Spoke with Bren last week... he and the missus had just returned from a week or so in the Abacos. Man he loves that place! I still haven't had the chance to sail with him on his new boat, but I'm hoping to get something to work out in July. Of course it will be hotter than Hades in Houston, but who cares when you have on board AC and Kalik in the reefer? Next time you see him, asked him to tell you of our adventure sailing his C250 at Canyon Lake. It is an entertaining story!
dflynnatc, i have definitely heard that song before, as well as flown home some of those fallen soldiers. thats your brother? small world!
Even Chance, whoops! good catch.
Champipple, in my original post (and subsequent replies) i mention i am planning on installing one. already have the chute, need to rig the line (purchased) and find a spin pole though.
Thank you for your commitment and service.... df
quote:
Right on the money, Tom. spent 6 years at Dover, flying ~monthly from there to the war and spending most of my time in europe between the two...

I hadn't heard the song before, but its a great tribute. Thanks for sharing. Sometimes I wonder what my response would be if I had to stare down an enemy, and how I would pass on that gut check. When I went to sign up they failed my medical, citing a heart murmer. Its been one of my "what if's" ever since.
