I've been lurking here for a few days watching how you C25 people interact. How I wish I were a shrink. I'm quite certain I'd be able to have as much advice for the many of you... as mine does for me...
But that's not the post.
I sail a miniature C25 (Cat 22 MKII FK) and want to be able to get in a discussion group like you folks have. I've tried several links and methods of subscribing to Catalina Directs site (doesn't work for me) and looked at trailer sailer (they like Potters, Seawards and C27's) and haven't found any place as good as this forum.
Problem is I just do not need the extra room (towing weight) of a C25. Fact is, I looked at a 1981 C25 today... FK / SR at a marina in Alameda, CA. Nice boat. The interior is excellent, all redone and only $6200.00 (it's in lat 38 if anyone cares)By the way, this 81 has the separate gas tank locker like my Capri. I thought I read that was 82 and newer.
So, back to the question... Does anyone know how to get into a MKII discussion group?

Bill – It seems the [url="http://sail2live.com/capri22/"]Capri 22 National Association[/url] has a well designed web site. The software for this forum is available at [url="http://forum.snitz.com/"]Snitz Forums.[/url] Why don’t you join your National Association and ask them to incorporate the forum into their website. Our Association has benefited greatly by having this forum. We used to be at Trailer Sailor but had to fend for ourselves and our web guru set this up for us. It has turned out to be the heart and soul of our Association. I’m sure the [url="http://sail2live.com/capri22/"]Capri 22 National Association[/url] would benefit from having their own forum. Sounds like a good project for you to take on.

I just looked, and catalina22.org only has an e-mail distribution network... Seems like with as many made as McDonalds hamburgers, they'd have a more active on-line presence. You should approach the webmaster with John's suggestion, and tell him/her to look over here to see what's happening. Or do they consider the MkII to be illegal? (I believe the C-250 is much more different from the C-25 than the 22 MkII is from the original 22, and we get along fine here most of the time. <img src=icon_smile_blush.gif border=0 align=middle> )

Trailersailor.com was once a good host for this group and others, like C-27, but last I saw, its future was up in the air again.

And for the record, we don't need no steenking shreenks around here! <img src=icon_smile_approve.gif border=0 align=middle>

Dave - I don't think the C22 Assocn. regards the C22 Mark II as illegal, but consider that they create a separate one design. They won't let them race in their Nationals (not even as a separate fleet). At the Assocn. annual meeting (during the Nationals) the Mark II wasn't even mentioned! I think that we are much more accomodating to the new model C250.<img src=icon_smile_approve.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

P.S. Bill - I have an '81 TRFK Hull #2262. It too has a separate locker for the gas tank, so that mod may have been a late '80 one - I'm sure Bill Holcomb would know.

What about the C22 list at www.sailnet.com I don't know whether they have a MkII component or not, but they are at least 22's.

Thanks to all,
I've posted a request for info on the Cat 22 National site. I hope I get responce like I have here. I have not mentioned this site as yet and will wait until I get feedback from my first post.
I looked back to some of their old posts and find some of the regulars have been concerened about the health of their forum, but didn't have any idea how to remedy the problem or where to look for assistance. So, when I do mention this site and SNITZ forums I'll make sure to give a special thanks to John G for the advice.
BTW, the shrink is my older sister. She & her hubby live in Port Angeles, WA a long way from SF (no more weekly house calls) and sail a lead sled - you know a Nor'Sea 27.

Hey Bill here is and idea for you. Just stick around here. Sooner or later you will catch two foot itas and walla you will be set. I have been with the board since the old board. Cant remember how many years? Well anyway I sold my C-25 a few months ago and still fell better here with this group of people than anywhere else on the web. As you see by my sign off Im now sailing an Alberg 29. Thats a bird of a different color. But for me my fondness for the C-25 and friends here will never end. Many of our posts about destinations or sail trim, or boat names apply evenly no mater what you sail. Its more the spirit of the board than anything else. No flaming lots of respect and plenty of help. Glad to see you here.
