When I approach the dock after a day of sailing I usually shift in to neutral and slow to approach the dock at a reasonable speed and at the last minute I shift into reverse until I'm caught in my "Catcher in the Ryver" and held at the dock... Nissan users check the fulcrum for the shifting mechanism periodically, today the shifting device had come loose totally, the dock is a little softer than previously. It was held in place with one bolt it seems.
Snug them up!!!

There are two 1/4"X24" bolts about 2.5" long. The manufacturer mounted them with the nuts under the bonnet creating a problem that when the nut works off the bolt the bolt drops into the sea and the shift separates from the engine. Not nice! Must have deen a production line expedient. I mounted them differently. One up / one down.
