For those of you who like to use your C250 as a weekend getaway at the slip and would like an inexpensive television solution for the occassional ball game, etc. I was over at Sam's Club this morning and they are selling a portable Philips 7" DVD/TV combo with an HDTV tuner and small, magnetic external antenna. I was stunned at the picture quality within Sam's club at the broadcast HDTV shows. Plus it has a DVD player for movies, a 12V plug in, and battery life of 3 hours. I tuned it at my office and it picked up 12 broadcast tv channels including the main affiliates where football games are carried, etc. At $149 it's hard to beat. Plus teh screen swivels and folds flat so there are a number of mounting options.
Michael, we took the more expensive route. We have a 15" DTV with DVD player, a Radioshack flying saucer antenna on the end of a 10' SS tube on the back of the port catbird seat.
When we get the DTV signals the quality is great! But sadly when we sail in Biscayne Bay, most of the channels are weak and then most of them are in spanish!
We're about to spring for a better antenna and I'm thinking of mounting it on the spreaders.
Paul, I was looking at Radio Shack on line and saw an HD box style antenna for $59 and several saucer style one starting at $79. Which one were you referring to? Do you have model no.? Steve A
Also check your local truck stop - many have flat screen TV's that run on 12V. I saw one recently with integrated DVD player for $300 CAD. The saltwater guys might want a removable mount or risk premature failure due to saltwater exposure.
