http://www.ajc.com/news/runaway-boat-runs-over-612941.html

from the article above ( ya just can't make this stuff up )

-- Runaway boat runs over man at Lake Lanier --

Two boats collided, causing one of the drivers to go overboard while the boat was still running, according to the report. He was rescued by friends and suffered only cuts.

The driver in the other boat climbed onto a Jet Ski nearby and attempted to jump into the boat, but fell into the water, witnesses told the newspaper. That man, Stoddard Jeffers of Stone Mountain, was hit and run over by the boat and was later flown to Atlanta Medical Center.

The runaway boat hit a dock several times before coming to stop, the newspaper reported.

Yepper, they don't have the kill switch clipped on, but they probably have a video of the accident. Go Figure...

A much less risky tactic is to throw rope where the runaway powerboat will run over it and tangle up the propeller.

People ask me, "Aren't you afraid to be way out at Sea?" and I reply, Yes... I'm afraid all right, I sail on Lanier.

It does seem that Lanier has more than its share of problems.

<< It does seem that Lanier has more than its share of problems. >>

I am embarrassed to be posting regional stories on a national forum. I'm sure every local newspaper has stories like this every month, especially in a highly populated area. We usta get stories at the beach (Gulf Coast), that you would not hear about anywhere else. People lost at sea. Some bass boater going offshore and never seen again. Tornadoes killing folks. Bodies stacked in the mortuary after a storm. Sharks eating ...

The local paper would hardly cover it except for a small insert.

Anyhoo, I am sorry to bring it up cause it is very sad ( that poor guy is in surgery ), but we can learn from it, and it is also funny sounding after the fact. I just could not resist the visual of the guy trying to jump from the jetski into the moving boat. If I'm ever in that situation, I'll resist the urge... ( But you know I could )

Swords, Ray Swords.... shaken not sturred...
