Let me preface by saying, We own a Marine Dealership and I hate paying retail for my toys.
That said, I see the replacement winch on Catalina Direct and the price makes me shudder. There are certain Catalina specific components that can only be purchased through Catalina or CD, but if this is a standard off the shelf Fulton Brake Winch, then...
On the Fulton Web Site, I have found the brake winch section, but which winch?
I am leaning towards the single speed 2500# winch K2550 0301 Brake Winch, 2500 lbs.
Any idea's what the Fulton part number is on the winch that CD sells?

John - Interesting...I've committed to replacing the winch this off season, and was planning to order this week...I've done some research, but am yet uncomfortable w/ a substitute...my goal is to be sure to have a new winch on-hand while on the hard...but I'm also a little put-off by CD's charges...
These are expensive winches, even at wholesale prices. I will still have to get the cable and handle from CD but if I can save a bit on the winch it'll make life a bit more bearable.
Although the operational concept is the same, the keel winch on the C-22 is a completely different winch than the one on the C-25: On the C-22 the handle stays on and the cover plate behind the handle is flat while on the C-25 the winch is under one of the steps, the handle is removable and has an extension built in so it can clear the steps. It mounts on the winch differently, too. The C-25 winch may be a special order type item, hence the add'l cost. Just thinking out loud.
Per my ad in the C25 swap meet, I'm still looking to "buy" a C25 swing keel winch that has been replaced during maintenance. It can be ugly, but complete -- I want to use it to work out details on a redesign idea (retired engineer...). I'll pay for your trouble and for shipping if not close enough for me to pick it up. Please give me a call at 734-461-6846 or email me. Thanks!
