Sail number? It may be in the owners registry.

Nothing in the photos to get a sail # link is

http://www.trailersailor.com/index.php?option=com_adsmanager&Itemid=299&page=showad&adid=11003

Registration appears to be in Kentucky now but it is supposed to be an '84 tall rig swing keel--i didn't know they made wing keel 25s before 86??? I am amazed by the number of folks who have read the post! Thanks for your help. rt

There is a process whereby a swing can be retrofit to a wing keel. This could be a retrofit.

Looking at the photos from the link, there is no doubt that it's a swing keel. I wish my 84 had the drawers in the galley area like this one has.

This looks like a bargain buy for somebody. Ours has the galley drawers also, no new mainsail, but we do have a new 135. We have approx. $7K in Recess, excluding the trailer.

Skybird,

Do you sail on Lake Fort Phantom?

Gary--i have recently joined the Abilene Sailing Assn so it would be possible to sail a 25 size boat without having to completely rerig every time. Currently the only sailboat i have is a Hobie Wave, but i am working on curing that problem. In ancient history i had a Gulf Coast 21 and we sailed on Ft Phantom a few times before we sold it. Many years at other hobbies and trying to return to sailing more now.

Do I see some sort of "platform" under the forward stanchions of the bow pulpit? I'd be curious about that--whether there's damage to the deck under there. You should be able to inspect that from the hatch between the v-berth and the underside of the anchor locker.

Otherwise, looks like a good prospect. He doesn't mention the last maintenance of the keel lifting system--cable, winch, attachments, turning ball, etc. Conventional wisdom is that this should be inspected every couple of years in fresh water, and the cable should be replaced periodically... Ask.

dave, i looked at the pics again and i think what you are seeing is a 2 or 3 inch strap over the bow and down to the trailer causing a shadow at the anchor locker. thanks for your post, i appreciate it.

Thanks all for comments and offers of help. Apparently this boat sold before i ever made contact with owner, however as of today i am the new owner of an '86 tall rig swing keel, sail # 5335, so be prepared for many questions over the coming days! (1050 mile round trip to trade for it in less than 2 days-just got home)

This association forum is one of the main reasons i decided on a C-25. Have already signed up (had to wait til i found out the hull #). Pictures will have to wait at least til i get the previous name off and get it moved from home to the lake-hopefully the next few days. I will also have to learn to post the pictures.

Posting pix can seem a little convoluted... Instructions are in the Testing forum. Just for "practice", I'll post one of my favorites (that I took from a friend's plane)...

If you click for this post, you can see the "img" tags that are generated by the button, and my picture URL between them.
