I would like to replace my window curtains. Any suggestions?

The source for window curtains usualy depends on your marital status unless you sew. Make your own they are very easy. On my old Catalina we ran cord front to back in the cabin. One cord above the windows and one below. Allthough the windows taper we kept the cord parralel. My wife made several panels of curtains and we slid them onto the cord. They could be slid forward or aft or to each side of the window. A simple panel with a 3/8" seam on top and bottom. Last year on a trip to Holand we were given a set of curtains by a friend. Her mother has a hobby of tating and we now have several panels hand made with square riggers as a patern. Pricless. Almost to nice to put up.

I am also looking for curtains. On my newly aquired C25 there are two thin, long aluminum frames running the whole length across the windows. They have grooves in the frame to slide something that fits on the curtains. Holds the top and bottom of curtain secure. If I could just find some curtains and fittings...

i went to a local fabric store, where they had a large selection of nautical theme fabrics. I also bought plain white backing fabric so the curtains would not fade.

I used the curtain snaps that are sold at west marine along with the runners which I secured with the window screws. My local dry cleaner did the sewing which was not cheap ( the admiral cant do this)

Curtains look fine! But one tip I can give you is to make sure you lie the snaps up between the curtain top and bottom so they bunch up neatly.

If you have the channels for the old curtains, the panels themselves are easy, just 3 or 4 tapered panels. I’m sorry I do not know where to get the glides for the tracks.
I made a pattern and Mother sewed panels from ivory sun resistant curtain material and sewed on the old glides. Make sure to get the top and bottom glides directly above the other so the pleats are lined up when the curtains are pulled open.
Once you find the glides and the tracks it only takes a quick sewing of flat panels and some time doing hand work sewing each glide on by hand..

With many NASCAR drivers changing teams for next year, the availability of brightly colored Nomex uniform material should be plentiful. Not only will your curtins be bright, but they will be fire-proof!

I was missing two of the original slides. I vaguely recall a web site which sold them, but for much more than they seemed to be worth. Instead I sewed on (very loosely) the smallest buttons I could find. After a little fine tuning with a file, they fit perfectly in the original aluminum track.

I never could find small buttons that slid properly in the curtain tracks, instead I went with small 9mm (I think) oval beads that can be purchased at any Walmart in the sewing/craft area. Worked like a charm, but what a pain in the rear to hand sew them all on!
