Need some advice on a good jib. The jib that came with my boat is tattered.
I just want a good all around working jib, I'll get a Genoa later. What size should I get for coastal sailing? I would like it not to swing past the mast.
Brand? Where to get a good new or even used?
I just want a hank on, my roller furler needs to be retired and I'm a budget sailor. Trying to get this old thing ship'shape asap.

I have a Catalina original 100% and a UK Halsey 110% in Dacron.
The Halsey is nice since it has leechlines, but it also has battens that involve a little more effort from my crew. If they blow a jibe, the recovery can get ugly. I can't remember the last time I sailed with the original Catalina 100% jib. I should check and see if it works. Seems that on deliveries we either have the 155% or the storm jib up. I have cheated and sailed home on the UK halsey jib after a race.
This post has been a wake-up call. I need to get out with that sail and see how it flies.
In any case, the UK halsey is a good sail, but you have to keep an eye on the battens.
