I want to pass along some info for anyone interested. I recently bought a 10" Haier LCD tv for use on the boat and, after trying it out, bought another one to use in my kitchen at home. The tv has an internal battery, but it can also operate on 110 AC, or it can be plugged into the boat's 12 volt DC system. It can be bought new from a number of different sellers on Ebay for $60-70 plus about $10 shipping. Mine receives as many on-air stations at home as my big tvs, using only the telescoping antenna that is included, but I know it won't do as well on my boat, which is in a poor reception area. The speakers are small, and the sound isn't as full and rich as a big tv, but the sound is still pretty good for the size of the set. I will probably use earphones on the boat, and they enhance the sound quality.
Last year I used a similar tv, but with only a 7" screen size, and for personal viewing, it was very satisfactory, but a 3" bigger screen will be an improvement.
When you want to sail, it will be much quicker and easier to stow than a 15-20" tv. It can be tossed in almost any locker.
Amazon has it for $70 + $12 shipping, and some reviews that might be useful. Might be worth the couple of extra bucks for their return policy. Looks like pretty good bang-for-the-buck.
My friend has a great set up on his C-27. It's a combo DVD/LCD flat screen. It has an adjustable mount and a remote antenna that looks like a short spar. Sometimes when you tack you have to adjust the "spar" which he has sitting in the V-Berth.
I'm just still torn about having a TV on the boat. It is good to keep kids entertained. We use a portable DVD player on my boat to keep the 4 year old happy, got it for about $50 at Target. Also good to augment your smart phone for weather updates. I do have to say, it was awesome to be watching the Play Offs while sailing last year too. In shopping for a TV for the home, I was amazed at how low the prices have gone for smaller HD flat screens.
We like this 23 c/m (9") TV, DVD, compact disk & digital audio, MP3, closed circuit, SD MCC slot, video & speaker in/output, remote control, with 12/110volt and separate purchased analog/digital unit combination. The amplified philips rabit ear attenna is taped to the hull below the V berth and gets, depending where we are reasonable reception. In Mission Bay, San Diego more than 10 stations and in campsites along the way with a cable connection whatever is available. Nice thing about this unit, although it cost a little more, is that it is all-in-one and is build to withstand a knock or two

I picked it up to put in the kitchen. Even at $139 it's a bargain.
Mike... nice to hear from you, hope all is well. To accommodate reading material the second shelf with carved crew's face was added. Hope to spend sometime in Mission Bay again after the "Havasu Pocket Cruiser Convention", held at Lake Havasu, AR, February 14-21st, 2011 Hope to see you!!
Powered up the 10" Haier TV today. It may be something I'm doing (or not doing right) but the remote doesn't work. Also, and this is something I forgot when we bought the 13" TV for our kitchen, we have only 2 stations that broadcast in digital HD format, so for now, I've got only 1 channel to watch without hooking up to a converter box. The only other channel is a spanish speaking channel, which is useless to me.

If the remote doesn't work and it doesn't have a built in digital tuner, personally, I would take it back. The converters are about $40 which puts you at about $100. For $20 more you can get something 6 inches bigger with a built in ATSC digital/NTSC analog tuner. I don't think this TV would need a converter but you would need some rabbit ears.
