I received a quote for an asymmetric spinnaker from a good dealer. (well known). The cost of a brand new sail is $695 and a chutescoop for $155. The Luff is 30' leech is 28.5' and foot is 16.5. This is much lower than any other quote I received. What do you all think of this price?

I spent most of my money on boats and beer, the rest I just wasted.
As I recall, the PO of SL lamented that he'd paid $250 for each of the three times he'd used his (now my) new spinnaker. I took that to mean he'd paid around $750 for it. Assuming that's true, then your price doesn't sound out of line to me.
Of course, he won the 2004 Nationals with it, so maybe it was worth it to him for his per use cost.

The longer you own your boat, the more opportunities you'll have to use a spinnaker, and thus to amortize it's cost. I owned my C25 for 23 years, and, looking back, regret that I didn't buy a spinnaker for it and enjoy it all those years. If you only intend to keep the boat a couple of years, it would be harder to justify the initial cost.
The chutescoop is a good investment too, because it will allow you to fly your assym singlehanded, and that means you're likely to use it more frequently.
Peter, why is your sail # so many digits? Also, did you get your mast work done? I have a complete rig to raise and lower C-25 mast singlehanded if you get desperate enough we could make arrangements to get it to you.

After market sails from the PO. We will be OK to get the mast down or go up it, but I do really appreciate thee offer. Haven't done it yet, been busy with the family and getting my sailing in on on my friend's C-27 and my other dock buddies boats. It's been about 30 days since Stephanos went out, but we will get her fixed real soon.
If you ever make it out our way we would love to take you for a sail, seems like you're the only other Texas boat on the map.
I'll take you up on that sometime. I'd like to come over there sometime next spring and take the basic keelboat course--only practical way to do it will be to take several days off and stay with relatives nearby.
I purchased mine from Sobstaad about 12 years ago. I sold several shotguns, two rifles, and two handguns to pay for it. I think it was $1300, which included sheets and tac line. Needless to say I don't hunt anymore but have thoroughly enjoyed flyng the asym when the opportunity arrises.

For racing purposes, you're allowed to use either your hull number on your sails, or your phrf numbers.

Glad I looked him up before asking a stupid question. I'd never heard of him before your post but have now. I can't believe I work about 3 miles from KO Sailing and pass by it almost everyday. Never knew I had a famous neighbor.
