Does anybody have pics or descriptions of the types of screening people have out there? I have the companionway covered by using boards I made to fit like the companionway boards only they have screening.
I'm really only looking for better ideas for the side portholes and the forward hatch. I did a search and it sounds like there are screens available for the side portholes but I thought I could make some. If they're not that much money we might buy them. Anybody have details?
What about the forward hatch? My wife tried velcro but getting one side to stick to the overhead didn't work. We thought of a frame with a hinged flap to access the dogs?
Anybody else have pics and/or ideas? I have seen those large tent-like screens with weighted rope around the circumference. You can throw that over the hatch but I would like something more secure. I might still try that?
I really like the "bag" screens for the forward hatch. It lets you open and close the hatch. I have had one with chain sewn in and sand in the hem, sand/lead shot is better. Of course I always air condition my boats so the season of screens is short for me.

<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"> These are probably the best for the hatch. If your worried that it might blow off the boat, Don't be. Its a screen and wont catch the wind and are weighted very well. They also allow you to open and close the hatch without any adjustments and store easily.
If you can identify the hatch and/or port models as from Bomar or Lewmar (probably the two most common makes), you might be able to find matching screens on their sites or through WM. I've also seen kits where a screen rolls up into a frame that goes around interior of the hatch.
My portlights open inward and came with screens that fit outside of the "windows". My deck hatch came with a screen that fits on the inside and therefore impedes opening and closing, although it pops in and out easily enough.
