If you'd like to put your boat's marker on the map, it's posted as a sticky link at the top of this page.

Please see:
http://www.zeemaps.com/map?group=198193&x=-97&y=39&z=13&add=1

The Password to add or edit a marker is "Iris" Pswd is case sensitive.

Anybody out there from the California delta region?
Anybody in Idaho? How's about Lake Mead, or Havasu?

I tried to enter a marker but I couldn't un-lock the map. You need an admin key? or contact an admin person but I didn't see where to contact one?

Scooter, read through the "Home Ports..." sticky post at the top of the General forum. I believe the key may still be "Iris".

"Iris" is indeed the unlock code (no quotes). I finally got SL up there on the map, even though she's still on the side of the house & not in the marina right now.

I don't recall ever seeing a '<b>To All Members</b>' email...but maybe this initiative is worthy of a message encouraging Association members to register their location? ...just asking...(I'm also assuming an email blast is an easy task to accomplish...)

I entered my marker and description. Pinpointed marker right on my boat. Only question have is...how do you log out ? It seems that if I go completely out of zeemaps and then go back in, I can continue to edit/submit revisions to my marker details.

Where you clicked on "unlock" to log in to the map, it becomes "Re-lock" to log out. Don't blame me, I didn't built the site, I just found it. To me that isn't very intuitive though.

Larry - We were driving down Anacostia Freeway on Christmas Day on the way to my father's house, and just past the S. Capitol St. interchange I happened to glance over across the river at your marina (not knowing it was actually where you had your boat). Man, that's a cool location right in the heart of everything!

Rick,

You know I had to look at ZeeMaps to picture exactly how you could see my marina from the highway since the highways in DC do not seem to be close enough to get a view and then re-read your posting realizing it was not the Southeast Freeway but the Anacostia Freeway you were on. I guess you can see the marina from across the river there. Also, on the side of the river where you were driving you pass by the Bolling Air Force Base and they have a marina there as well, though, I do not think you pass close enough to see that marina.

Yeah - We are in the heart of everything. We have in close proximity: Ft McNair adjacent to my marina on one side with their brick wall about 50 feet from my finger slip. Then adjacent on the other side of my marina is the Coast Guard Headquarters (USCG). Directly across exiting my marina is the Anacostia Air Base. Under the South Capitol Bridge (my mast will not fit under it) is the Wasington Natls Stadium and the Wash Navy Yard (where I work). Then as I hoist my Main and head for the Potomac, I pass Ft McNair and Washington Channel and enter the Potomac River. Real close is Natl Reagan Airport with planes a buzzing, North is the Wash Monument & other monuments visible including a far view of The Capitol. South we have the Bolling Air Force Base, Navy Research Laboratory (NRL) and a DC water treatment plant. On the Virginia side of the Potomac is the Wash Sailing Marina and Old Town in Alexandria,VA. Just past the Wilson Bridge is the Natl Harbor with the Gaylord Convention Ctr and soon arriving is a complex being built by Disney. Bellhaven Sailing Marina is on the VA side across from Natl Harbor. All this is packed into about 5-6 miles straddling where the Anacostia joins the Potomac River. It is an area of USCG helicopters and USCG & DC Harbor boat patrols, some sightseeing vessels, sometimes gas smells from the airport and sometimes very annoying puff/bang noises from the airport to keep birds off the runways. It is an area that is busy but has it's very satisfying quiet moments as well. It is not ideal sailboat water and the river especially after storms can have debris you have to be on the watch against hitting but there are a lot of sailboats in this upper Potomac River region especially from the Wash sailing Marina. It is an area that is close to work for me and so I can easily drop down to the boat any weekday after work as well as weekends. If I kept my boat on the Chesapeake it would be doable and great sailing waters but not so convenient for the roundtrip especially returning home since I live west of DC. This would mean mainly using the boat on weekends only. The story goes - The closer you are to your boat, the more you are likely to use or be on it.

Thanks for viewing my marina !!
