Fitting name for the ship as well as the movie... Finally viewed this movie about Shackleton's, 1914 Antarctica expedition. Leadership, courage, and personal will power take on a new meaning under such circumstances.
I highly recommend viewing but you may want to keep a few extra blankets handy...
That's a thrilling story, for sure. I've seen it before, but, since you reminded me, I'm going to check it out of the local library and watch it again.
The small boat that Shackelton sailed past Cape Horn to rescue his crew was named the James Caird. It still exists, and I saw it in Cincinnati, on tour. A replica was built for the filming, and it sank during filming. They built another replica for the tour, because the original James Caird is just a shell now. The replica was really cool!
