The latest pirating event we heard of is the Danish family that have been boarded in Pirate Alley.

Now, if your boat name was the same as one of the largest Financial companies in the world, would you change it before heading down that road?

(The vessel is named 'ING' )

So, this weekend, as we cruised around the pirateless Biscayne Bay, we thought of boat names to avoid. Chime in with your suggestions.

Here's a few of the names we crossed off our list of possible names for future boats. If you need clarification: Just consider making a radio call with some of these names:

Something like: 'Fisherman On Fire', this is 'Upside Down' Over.

or 'Overboard, Overboard, this is Lost Fisherman, over'

Here's some other names we thought to avoid:

.. Well Grounded
.. Lost at Sea
.. Blown away
.. Broken Chain
.. No Sails

This is too easy... How about names we've actually seen, that are really bad ideas (on the VHF or elsewhere)... I'll have to dredge my feeble memory, but I've seen a few.

As an aside, a bridge operator once suggested I might get even better service if my vessel's name were Chief. You can guess his affiliation...

Feature of the Week from Badboatnames.com...

"Hayday, Hayday, this is Going Down Again..."

I think the Coasties need to tell these folks to think up another name (and get it approved).
