Great way to start the Spring series. 7 boats in the non-spin PHRF fleet. Winds 15-20, gusting 25! What a way to dust off the cobwebs. 1st race had a great start and played the puffs the whole trip. We even corrected over most of the spin fleet. 2nd start wasn't so great but we fought tooth and toenail for the win. Hats off to my crew!

Is that "Volare" with the hi-tech sails?
We had our St Patrick's Day Regatta on Saturday - wind a steady 18 with gusts in the high 20's. Ran a reefed main and a 105% jib and took 3 firsts. It sure is wonderful to have such great crew.

Hi Derek! One reef in the main and my 108 is the same combo I used in the previous races we had in similar winds. We won with a relatively large margin beacuse everyone else was trying to carry way too much sail......

Congrats to you on winning 3! Great sailing!

No, the big gray boat w/high tech sails is "Valkrye" an Oday 32. I'm the little red boat next to her. That particular photo was taken on the last day of the Fall series. 9 recorded wind gusts above 35 mph. Steady wind over 25. It was a WILD day.

I run a more modest EP main and mylar North headsail.
