Everything was going well until I smelled sulfer in the stern - interstate batteries finally gave out. leaded acid into bat compartment. Took a while to sop it all up and wipe down with Vinegar. . . . Sam's Club - Optima Blue AGM Deep Cycle Marine bats $155 each - bought two and wired in parallel. . .

Also, We did this and I know it supposed to be a no-no, but we took the foam out of the upholstery skins. Washed them all in the washing machine on gengle cycle with detergent, oxyclean, and fabric softener. Then put them in dryer under low-head/delicate - they look and smell fantastic!!!!!

Used the carpet shampooer wand and saturated the foam with carpet shampoo and a bit of bleach...sucked it all with the shampooer, put them in home office with ceiling fan running full blast - dried in less than 24 hours.

Wife is working on new curtains. Looking forward to splashing on April 23rd!

Wooudn't it be preferable to wash battery acid down with a base solution like maybe baking soda in water rather than vinegar (acetic acid)?

Also, going forward, you may want to install a battery box. Containment of leaks is one of the primary reasons for having one.
