Hi All,

I can't believe this product doesn't exist, but so far I haven't been able to find it. I'm looking for a manual deck wash pump. Essentially a manual bilge pump like the one pictured below, but with a long intake hose with a weight at the bottom, and an exit hose that I could use to wash down my deck or to fill a bucket. It would be nice if the shaft of the pump could clamp to a stanchion. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks so much!

Ben,
Check the plumbing department at Home Depot or Lowes. I know the one I'm a regular at has them.

If not, you should invent one, and I'll sign up for one.

Thanks guys, I'll try Lowes or Home Depot. if I can't find it there, I'll have my R&D guys whip one up for me to present to the stockholders. ;-)

Just a thought, What's the bet that all you have to do is reverse the valve in that thing?

To fill a bucket with lake water, I attach a line to a bucket then lower it over the side. I do this after anchoring if I get some muck on the foredeck. I also have a 1 gl plastic jug with a hole cut out at the top opposite the handle (line attached to handle as well) for the same thing.

lol

I'd love to hear the solution to this as I don't have running water at the marina.

If there is a hose available with a diameter sufficient to go over the end of the West Marine bilge pump, then 5 ft of such hose attached with a ring clamp. What about a 2-3 gal garden sprayer with pump? I know some folks use that for showering. My 3-gal. sprayer haS a shoulder strap that might work to lower it oveer the side to fill it.

I've already thought about a 12v RV pump, which should work great, but my batteries are already taking a hit from other electronics....

For those with swing keels just attach a Y adapter to your keel cable hose? and then attach the pump above to the hose without the cable and pump away!

Don, I've done the ol' bucket on a line routine many times over the years. On a hot summer day, the bucket starts to get mighty heavy after a short while. That's why I'm looking for a smarter way to do the job.

Is this what you are thinking of? It's for a kayak, but a hose attached on the suction, might do what you need it to do.

Actually, I don't wash my boat at sea. I do it before I leave the slip.

And exactly how is pumping some 20-30 times going to keep you cool?
