Been there and done that--sorta--on a Hobie 16 on a high mountain lake in Colorado... Ya, it was only 16', but it seemed just as crazy--flying a hull 6'+, spray like a fire hose of the other one, then suddenly the "big dig"...
You really don't want to be caught under the tramp with all those lines--it looked like a few of those guys were. Then there's the guy who falls on the mast--did he break it? Ouch!

The AC will be on 72' rigid wing cats in late summer, 2013. Leading up to that is a series of regattas around the world on 45' "replicas" of the AC-72, this year and next. Then there will be a series in AC-72s, leading up to the Louis Vuitton series that picks the cup challenger. There's a huge number of teams preparing, including from the Middle East and Far East, and they'll be doing fleet as well as match races in boats that easily hit 30 knots (the AC-45s) and faster on the AC-72s. This isn't your father's sailboat!
I'm surprised the daggerboard came out completely; thought there would be a safety line allowing it to retract but not come out of the hull. Wonder if it floats!
