Here are a couple of pictures of my new cabin sole installed last Friday. The above photo shows the base of the table which is bolted through the sole, onto the fiberglass floor. Current sole is 1/4 inch marine, teak and holly ply, former sole was 1/2 inch marine, teak and holly ply. Table is a bit wobbly and must be shored up.
Here's a question: was original table constructed with l shaped tubing? P.O. did not leave me with tubing but am wondering if there is some way I can get a hole of tubing to install into my existing compression post bracket in order to shore up the table so that my new floor does not get ripped up the next time someone tries to steady them selves down below in a blow.
Also: in same day ripped out the snapped and badly rusted Stewart mod steering cable and replaced it with new stainless from west marine. Used their crimping machine to fasten cable to pedestal chain. A real pain in the neck install. For those of you with older 250s like mine- make sure you check the health of your cable! Yard broke mine and refused to replace because "if cable shows any signs of wear and tear the breakage is your fault!
Anyhow, will be happy to answer any questions you might have about that rather difficult install.
Based on C250s that I saw when shopping around a year ago, I believe that the mechanism for mounting the table changed somewhere around the '97-'98 model year, so be careful who you get your advice from. My table mounts with a single aluminum tube, roughly 4" diameter with slightly tapered ends, that goes to the floor. I believe that some earlier tables used two 1" diameter tubes that slid into sleeves mounted to the compression post and secured with thumb screws. There may be other designs as well.
