For those of you who may be interested, I have a new blog, which will focus on my sailing experiences in the south. The admiral enlisted our son-in-law to help set it up and get me started. It's still in it's infancy as I learn how to use it. Here is the link:
One of the interesting things I discivered through keeping my blog is that sailing is actually quite routine. the blog entries tend to start in the spring with projects and maintenance, then switch to launch and early saeson expectations, and then recounts of races (the same races on teh same courses as last year) then fall closeup and maintenance. A cruise may show up someplace during the summer or some unsexpected work, but after a while I get to feeling like I'm just repeating a post from the previous season. I don't post as much as I did when I first started the Iris blog, but I still do when I think there is something noteworthy.
The biggest kick in the pants my blog got was when blogger/google emptied my photo library for me. I lost a pile of photos that detailed some pretty interesting stuff. I should really find another way to host my pics that is more secure/controllable. I am not going back through years of photos to find the ones that go with the old posts.
That's good advice. I don't plan on using my blog to store my pics. I use my own computer, and Shutterfly for that, and Shutterfly to stage pics for posting on this forum.
