I recently posted about what I thought was a good deal for a Raymarine tridata. Turns out what the fella had is a brand new (unused) Raytheon Raydata. He is offering it to me with new depth transducer, speed and temp transducer and a garmin 16 hvs GPS receiver installed for $475. I know the Raydata is an older retired unit but it does have some nice useful features. I guess my question is : is it worth that kind of money being older and does anyone have any experience with these units and can give me some pros and cons?o

I don't think I would bite. The Raydata has been out of production since 2000 and was superseded by the ST-40 before that, that is pretty old. Use a fishfinder, many of them have optional speed transducers, built in gps, and give you a lot more bottom information for less money than a depth sounder. You could get the whole package with a shoot through the hull transducer instead of a through-hull for $300 - 450. Compare here: http://www.fishfinder-store.com/ and buy wherever you want.
Thanks guys. I think I may just pass on this one. I was looking at a Humminbird Fishfinder 587ci HD Combo. Lots more features and just about the same price :)
