Last year someone in this forum recommended Slick Strips by Woodcraft to replace the worn or missing tape that buffers the sliding pop-top hatch as it slides across the fiberglass hatch rails. Last night finally got around to removing what was left of the old stuff and replacing it with Slick Strips. Laying it down was easy. Removing the old material took a bit of time.
Comes in a 10'5" roll. 3/4" wide. $7.25 from Amazon with 7 bucks worth of shipping. Geeze!
I used tape I ordered from Woodhaven (another woodworking site), but I just checked & it doesn't look like they carry it any more. I bought 40' of it from them several years ago and still have a few rolls left.
If you need to order again, what you're looking for is UHMW (Ultra High Molecular Weight) plastic tape. Amazon has a number of listings for it.
I agree, getting the old adhesive off was a pain, but the new stuff comes off relatively clean. Some elbow grease with a green scrubby got most of it, and an acetone wipe down got the rest. Mine seem to like to peel up at the aft ends, so I carefully pared them down into round ends so they'd lay down better. Will have to wait & see if that makes any difference.
BTW, I kept the old tape, it can be used around the house for drawer slides, and other little projects.
