I am the new owner of a 1980 Catalina 25. I have Lemar 16 winches and the plating is flaking off. Has anyone ever had them re-plated or do I have to replace the drum? I have been reading many of the forums here and would like to thank everyone for helping out new guys like me.
1980 Catalina 25 TR, FK, Traditional. Sailing on the Mississippi River, Portage Des Souix, MO.

I haven't done it with winches, but I have had car parts re-plated with durable results. The plating is only cosmetic if the drums are bronze, but it reduces corrosion if they are anything else.
