Cool your boat fast and rest comfortably at night. Designed to operate on CO-7000 “Green Gas” refrigerant, this portable air conditioner has a high capacity compressor that produces 6,720Btu of cool, dry air. Installation is easy. Simply place it over any 12" x 12" or larger hatch and adjust the fabric hood to seal the opening. Temperature and fan speed are controlled from inside the boat. Includes the Optional Air Deflector that deflects the normally vertical cool-air discharge to horizontal for better distribution in your boat.

$1,400.00 at West Marine plus Optional Air Deflector – used for 2 seasons.

Any idea how much shipping to Houston would be? Why are you selling?

No but I'll try to find out..... To be honest, in the summer months while trying to work aboard our 40' boat - it works until just about 4:00 every afternoon and then it just doesn't keep up until about 6:30 or so.... SO, I was leaving the boat with my laptop and retiring to local watering holes daily which was counterproductive workwise and moneywise if you know what I mean.

So, after getting my wife pissed at me on more than a few times, and uh, sending a few sloppy emails - I decided to get a 9,500 BTU R2D2 looking unit that vents thru a hatch. A major pain in the ass when we want to go sailing to undo, but I needed the extra power. Amazing what a few thousand extra BTU's will do - but this unit should easily cool a C25...

I'll check on shipping and let you know....

Not a problem. I wouldn't have paid 150 for shipping anyway.

I have never seen a CruseAir still with the original owner. I have also never heard of anyone happy with an "R2" unit, however those with a separate exhaust duct are best. A wrench twister from Boeing once looked at my permanent installed window unit and asked why it was on the boat instead of the dock. He them proceeded to spitball a dock box that was actually a 15k or so BTU window unit with insulated flex duct going to the forward hatch. The duct and hatch plate it fit in weigh nothing compared to an AC unit and would take seconds to pull out of the hatch and toss in the dock enclosure.

I tried something similar except I still had the window unit sitting on the foredeck with some flexible aluminum duct going down the hatch. It worked OK but was a PITA to setup.

How did your Boeing buddy suggest attaching the ducting to the window unit? If someone has a good drawing or a picture I'd love to build one to see how it works. I'm tired of lugging my unit back and forth.

Also, the issue I ran into with the unit sitting on the deck is it can't pull cool air back into the unit and cannot sense the temperature inside the cabin so it runs non-stop.
