How about a raft up in July.. we can do something simple in Clear Lake or sail out to Redfish Island and raft up there. How about July 9, 16, or 23rd? To avoid the heat we could sail out late and come back in after sunset.
One other thing that can be fun is to sail as our own class in one of the local regatta's we only need 4 to make a class.

Raft up in early July would be good. Not sure about the 16th or 23rd. I may be on vacation one of those weeks.
My vote would be late afternoon in Clear Lake as I'm not burning up in the heat again like I did the day we took the mast down. Also, my mast lights are iffy at the moment. One week they work, the next they don't.
As mentioned, that's my suggestion. If everyone else wants to go to Redfish I'm sure I can be easily persuaded.
Edit: Just noticed I'm the only standard rig/wing keel of the group so I'll probably have to head out an hour earlier than everyone else if we go to Redfish. But then again, I've got an additional foot of boom height so I can sail with the bimini up! And I can cut the corners in shallow areas so maybe I can leave with the rest of the group.
I'm not sure a race to red fish would be good right now... I for one have no idea where it is! and it sounds like the others are fairly new to sailing and probably don't know ether.
I know all about ragged collections of sails. I paid $40 for my main and my 110 jib has several places with sail tape. I hhave 1 good sail, the 150. But I take the boat at anyway. I plan on getting a new main and 150 next year.
Hey Russ, I've tried to send private messages through the site bt it doesn't seem to work since Gary never received them. That would be the biggest help.
Ok... so how does July 9th... late afternoon at Red Fish sound? What time is good? oh and how long does it take to get to Redfish once you leave the Kemah channel? I just bought a new grill and would like to try it out.
And Ron, if you need help getting the boat ready let us know. I am sure some of us can help out.
I'm sorry about the forum email. Our webmaster is aware of the problem and it has been difficult to resolve. I know sometimes the forum email works, while other times it does not. Also, some email accounts never get a forum email, while others always do.
Sounds like fun, too bad I'm six hours away over land.
Russ, I have a bunch of C-25's in my marina, could you send me info about forming a fleet?
Gary, if you're running lights work than all you need is a steaming and anchor light, as far as the anchor light you can just run a good lantern up the mast with a halyard, that's what I have to do right now. I can also rig it as a steaming light. When we do raft ups we usually arrive late afternoon in daylight and leave in the morning so all you need then is an improvised anchor light. Our race fleet is doing a raft up July 3rd.

I was getting good power to the deck plug but not on the mast side. I cleaned the connections but the lights were intermittent. I finally went to HD and got some electrical contact cleaner and shot it down into each socket in the deck connector then followed that with a small phillips head screwdriver from a miniature tool set (like for eyeglasses) to help clean out the crud. I was amazed how bright the sockets were after doing the above. Figured the lights would work now. Nope! Still intermittent.
I started looking at each socket and some of them looked slightly enlarged. Took one of the small screwdrivers from the set and after a little work I was able to bend each side of the sockets so the holes closed up some. Plugged the connector back together and it fit much tighter. Flipped on the mast lights and they seem to be working now. They seem brighter too.

Unfortunately this time of the year the wind is usually out of the SE and is coming straight from Redfish. I usually head straight out the Kemah Channel until I get almost to the ship channel and if I'm lucky I can make one tack and make it all the way to Redfish.
Otherwise, you're having to tack back and forth every few minutes.
Well... I've had some small luck. I managed to get the new circuit panel installed and everything that was working still does... Unfortunately, still no power to the mast though. Tomorrow I'll figure out if I need to order a new wiring harness.

This one just got bumped up on my project list. I did follow the advice of a forum member and made my stern light brighter but switching the glass around on the inside of the housing. After I get done with Dallas race Week, I'll get back to my boat and some projects.
OK... let's get an idea of who is willing and able to sail to Redfish for a raftup on July 9th. Sail out late afternoon.. raftup.. share a meal on the water.. sail back at dusk.
Count us in... I figured out that I'm getting power to the deck connector, but nothing's working up the mast. I'm going to order a new wiring harness tonight and start figuring out how to get the mast down.
