Thunderstorms and mean looking skies - sailing called off for today. Drat! However, we had a good visit from and dinner with our daughter and son-in-law yesterday. Went to Longhorn steakhouse!

We've gad winds in the 22-30 mph range the past two days.... it's been crazy, I watched a sinking sailboat get towed in by TowboatUSA yesterday and today my dockmate lost the mast of his C25 SR earlier today. I haven't talked to him yet but I stoped by my boat today and saw his with a busted mast tied to the deck.

Today was fabulous in Massachusetts. Sailed around the islands in the harbor, then came back to have a cookout on the boat in lovely Marblehead Harbor. Weather was perfect. Winds 10 knots with gusts to 20...we were doing 6-7 knots the whole day. Then everyone fell asleep in the cockpit with our new Pottery Barn sunbrella throw pillows everywhere.

It was perfect.

Perfect day on Barnegat Bay! First sail of the season for me and it could not have been better. I had my four year old daughter with me and she was a champ! At one point, she snuggled up next to me in the cockpit and fell asleep - priceless!

Tried out my new furler and headsail. It's like a new boat compared to my old, blown out 26 year old sails!

ok, hate to be negative.

here at carlyle lake in southern illinois we've had enough rain that i ordered plans for an ark from montgamery ward stores. being on a
c of e lake we were run out due to high water in mid may for three weeks.
got the word yesterday that our recent rains are raising the lake again about 5 feet. elevationwise i will be within a foot of the water or about 30-40 feet from the water.

the ark is coming along fine. a little hang up on taking emo's. they always want to go as one.

Sorry to hear about the high water, Dave. Seems that Carlyle has been doing that a lot in the past few years.
