During a storm this past week, our Bimini was ripped. It's 6 years old and showing it's age, so a replacement is due.
I previously moved the Bimini to a Rail Mount system and it works great even though it's not designed as a rail mount bimini. However, it does not fold down well.
My thoughts are to use our existing tubing and redesign the whole thing. In the example shown in the link, they use a horizontal bar to keep the tubes appart and vertical bars to keep the bimini upright.
I'm thinking of doing the same thing, but using pip-pins to facilitate lowing it to the travel position.
Paul, There is a company that sells the Strapless Bimini Kits. I bought one and installed it last year. Really like not having the straps running forward and aft.
I installed a bimini from Ameriseam last year and continue to be pleased with the purchase. I have included pictures on my posts under the topic "Bimini for 250". The posts began in June 2010.
