I am looking at moving my 250 WB from Corpus Christi, TX to Chicago, IL. I will need to store the boat for a few months in TX before moving the boat. Is it possible to coil the CDI Furler and keep it inside the boat instead of along side the mast?

We keep ours tied along the mast all winter and when we travel. I suppose you could try to recoil the furler foil but not sure why you would want to.

When we first got JD, I used to take the furler off each trip (the first trip I left it and the headsail attached along the mast, but the headsail got mucky during the trip to the marina.) I didn't coil the foil, but did store it in the cabin with a single 180° bend across the full cabin beam. It straightened out easily upon putting the mast up.

Now we leave the furler attached to the mast strapped along the length about every 3 to 4 feet with a line.

You can coil it up. That's the way it is shipped. If I recall correctly mine came in a coil with about a 42" diameter. It packs a lot of energy when coiled that tight. Use <s>masking</s> <b>DUCT</b> tape to secure the coils and flatten the coil somewhat to get it in the cabin. Don't try to uncoil it in the cabin.

You can but, I think you're adding a step and potential for damage without gaining any value. The things designed to be out in the elements, all kinds of elements. Save yourself some grief and just leave it secured to the mast.

I agree, I stored my CDI foil coiled before I installed it on the boat and even with efforts to flatten it it took for ever to get the kinks out of it, which made furling unusually hard and wobbly.
