We have a 04 250 WK. Two of the plastic cars that attach the mainsail to the mast have recently broken and need to be replaced. They are stitched into the luff of the sail. What is the best way to replace the broken ones and is there an alternative to using plastic cars and sewing them on?
Several years ago I purchased new cars from west marine and they didn't need to be stiched in. I would have to research numbers if no one else chimes in.
Ken, I recently replaced some of mine as well. I did a search and found this link. You need the plastic slug and a clip. No sewing is needed. I got replacements at West Marine. It took about 10 minutes. The link will post the size you need. Take a look at the pics in the link. You just have to remove the slide that holds the slugs from falling out, pull the sail down and out to the point the broken slugs are out of the slide in the mast. Just keep an eye for the other lines, ie reef lines, etc and replace everything the same way. I am mechanically challenged and had no problem doing it. Steve A
