Isn't there any alternative to bottom painting, like some good wax, was my thoughts last few days.

Then I googled around found products like this:

http://www.auroramarine.com/aurora/catalog/11120/index.html
http://www.overtons.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?pdesc=Super_Slick_Boat_Bottom_Wax_16_oz&r=view&i=21716&aID=

Question, anyone ever tried something like this instead of painting the shiny new gelcoat?

Dalpol Phobos 21, 2013, Sole Mio, hull #27, current adventures - We sail Phobos 21

PO of Catalina C25, 1978, High Anxiety, hull #701, SR, FK, L-dinette, inboard diesel Volvo Penta MD2010C w/saildrive - more info

Might be OK if the boat was kept on a trailer, wouldn't use it on a boat that stays in the water.

Heck, I have enough problem with waxing the topsides deck, cabintop, and mast. I'd rather paint the hull once every couple of years and power wash it in between. Maybe if I was sailing a smaller boat under 20 feet.

The 'super slick' ad says...
<blockquote id="quote"><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id="quote">quote:<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"> Do not trailer after application. 12 hours max. to launch.<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote">

Now that's gonna happen!
