So, it looks like a C34 is not in our future (unless the lottery turns our way)
So we're looking at making our C250 even more cruiser friendly.
Currently we have two 12V batteries in the trunk, an 18w solar panel on a pole stbd side, a 1700W generator and shore power option.
We looking at adding an Engel cooler/freezer and that consumes up to 3amps.
We have the AC unit which is 110v so runs off the genny or shore power.
15inch LCD TV, which really only draws about 2amps.
and of course the standard stuff - cabin lights, vhf, ST40 instruments, bilge pump, Fixed GPS chartplotter, compass light, stereo, water pump, and other stuff - phone charger, hand held gps, netbook, nook.
Realistically, we have never seen the digital power meter read 5amps, so that number is what we consider extreme power consumption. Most of the time (even with the TV on) it's less than 3amps.
So the cooler would nearly double our power consumption! (in watt hours it would exceed it.
Just wondering how we compare with our power consumption with other cruisers (we typically take JD out for at least 3 nights, more often 4)
We're looking at installing a TrueCharge2 10amp battery charger, which by all accounts will allow us to run the DC load while charging the batteries.
One is an Engel MT45F the other is a Dometic. One thing to keep in mind is that they do not run continuously. The Engel is much more efficient than the Dometic. I originally wanted two Engels, one for fridge, one for freezer, but could not obtain another Engel before our spring trip. Although they both worked, I would not recommend the Dometic.

The other was used as a freezer and was used to actually make ice! And keep the steaks, chicken, and other stuff frozen.
